Women are competing
This morning, the women's competition began at the 2021 Crossfit Games with the swim event. Jonne and Tia Claire Toomey-Orr won the first competition. Koski took the overall title after she held her lead through the entire competition. Tall and Eramoo Connell were second and third, each. It was the first Games for women, and the women's side hoped to complete the podium.
The field is full of top-level athletes in the women's competition. Nine athletes are represented in the field, including a young Australian powerhouse who won last year's competition. Pegboard contest
The Pegboard contest at the Crossfit Games 2021 was a first. It was also added to the Games' Olympic summer program. Toomey-Orr set the record for most wins in a single Games event with 30. Sager won Event 11 for men and earned his third win of the Games. There were several tie in the contest but Toomey Orr's dominance was too strong to stop him winning.

CrossFit Games training involves focusing on ten basic physical fitness skills: endurance, strength flexibility power speed and agility. Pegboard is a contest that tests competitor's grip strength as well as coordination. Two wooden pegs are held between the hands of each competitor to gauge their grip strength. After completing the Pegboard, the competition was intense and athletes felt a sense of accomplishment.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games will use a cutting system again for individual competitions. It's not as extreme as the cuts used in past Games, but still very different than this year. There are 15 events in the competition, so it is possible that 30 athletes will be cut after the eighth or seventh event. One question that remains is how CrossFit will adjust the points distribution after cuts. The scoring system used in 2019 was virtually identical to the 2021 one, so it is probable that this will continue.
The CrossFit Games' largest ever field, consisting of 236 athletes this year, is the largest ever. Major cuts are made in the first six events. The field then drops to 75 athletes. The top thirty athletes then compete in a sprint team to determine the top 10. From there, the top twenty athletes compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system has been criticized by veterans Games athletes who feel that the cuts are too significant.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok has announced new sports shoes, clothing, and other equipment for the CrossFit Games. The Nano X1 is the new shoe. They are made to meet multiple fitness needs. Reebok claims this shoe is "the shoe that will fit all your fitness needs," but it's more like a regular training shoe.
