Women are competing
The swim event was the start of the women's division at the 2021 Crossfit Games. Jonne and Tia Claire Toomey-Orr won the first competition. Koski won the overall competition after maintaining her lead all the way. Tall finished second and Eramoo O’Connell third, respectively. It was the first Games women's event and the women hoped to complete it.
The women's contest is filled with high-level athletes. The field includes nine athletes. One of them is a 19-year old powerhouse, who won the Australian competition last year. Kara Saunders (Australian athlete) finished second in Australia. She was also eleventh worldwide for 2020. Andrea Nisler is another rising star. She competed in the team category in 2018 and placed third in the United States, and 15th overall in 2020. In addition to these athletes, the Women's competition will also feature a newcomer to the sport - Icelandan competitor Sara Sigmundsdottir, who won the first place medal in the World Crossfit Games earlier this year.
Pegboard contest
Pegboard at Crossfit Games 2020 was a first. It was also added to the Games' Olympic summer program. With 30 wins, Toomey-Orr holds the record for the most Games events won. Sager won Event 11 men's and received his third Games win. Although there were many ties, Toomey-Orr's dominance wasn't enough to prevent him from winning the contest.

CrossFit Games training involves focusing on ten basic physical fitness skills: endurance, strength flexibility power speed and agility. The Pegboard contest tests a competitor's grip strength and coordination. The athletes compete on a scale by holding two wooden pegs between their hands. The competition was fierce, and the athletes were left feeling a sense of accomplishment after completing the Pegboard.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games uses a cutting system to judge individual competition. Although it's not as drastic as previous Games, it is still quite different from this year. The competition consists of 15 individual events, so a first cut to 30 athletes is likely after the seventh or eighth event. Another question remains: how will CrossFit adjust the points spread following cuts? The scoring table used in the 2019 games was nearly identical to the one used in 2021, so it's likely that this will continue to be the case.
This year's CrossFit Games team includes 236 competitors, making it the largest ever. Major cuts are made at the six initial events. The field is now reduced to 75. The top 30 finishers compete in a sprint pairt to determine who is the top ten. The top 20 athletes then compete in six more events. Castro's system was criticized by veterans Games participants who felt the cuts were too large.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok announced new CrossFit Games footwear, clothing and other equipment. The new shoes are the Nano X1. They are designed to suit multiple fitness requirements. Reebok claims this shoe is "the shoe that will fit all your fitness needs," but it's more like a regular training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar upper promotes breathability while ensuring durability. The shoes' responsiveness is enhanced thanks to the RopePro tech and the firm midsole.

CrossFit's sponsorship contract with Reebok is ending at the end of 2020. There will not be a title sponsor for the Games. Reebok has sponsored the Games for more than a decade. It is now evident that their involvement in the Games will decrease. Reebok will not fund the Games' prize pool, but it will still make all the equipment and apparel worn by athletes, even the Reebok gear. The company will no more refer to itself by the name "Reebok Fitness Games", as it does right now.
